And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Matthew 14

And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” v32-33

The past several days of my study appear to be drawing a broad theme - that we as believers must have faith and express that faith through prayer and other means.  In this passage in Matthew 14, Jesus walks on water as does Peter, yet Peter's faith weakens as he grows afraid. Jesus does not want us to be afraid (see v27, additional verses here) and He wants us to cast our cares on Him through prayer, etc.  If we have Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) we will have peace and not be afraid.

On prayer, Piper writes that "God acts when we pray" and that "God can do more in five seconds than we can do in five years".

My Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are a good, good Father and my God - the One True God who saved me from the sting of sin and death.  Thank You Jesus!  I am not worth such a God.  I do get afraid.  Please forgive me Jesus for such sin and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me.  Help me grow in my faith.  Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo.  Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin.  Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
