I continue my study of Zephaniah using the Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary volume
for this book. For this morning, my focus is a commentary-assisted
review of Zephaniah 2:2, which is the text for the second division -
entitled Now Is the Time to Heed the Warning and Turn to the Lord - per the
commentary. Clearly, the text today emphasizes urgent action...to repent and turn toward the Lord. We should not delay, lest we either fail to be prepared for when the Lord returns during the Last Days (Revelation) or we do not accept God's offer of grace and forgiveness (see post yesterday) and suffer greatly from His wrath. From the commentary: "[W] must recognize that as powerful as God’s love and grace is, it does not diminish His anger and justice. God will do what is right—every time. There is no changing or impeding that reality. Turn now, and follow God; this is the message of Zephaniah."

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who is full of amazing grace for me - giving me salvation, and mercies that are new every morning and never cease...among the many blessings that You pour out for me. I am not deserving of these blessings. My sin is great and it continues...daily. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please continue to heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
