Exodus Chps 1 to 2
Here we see Moses saved from death by his mother then raised by the Pharaoh's daughter (of course with the help of Moses' biological mother). Moses kills an Egyptian and is then forced to flee. The Israelites during this time endure great hardship as slaves in Egypt.
During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. [24] God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. [25] So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them. (Exodus 2:23-25)
I often wonder whether God is even listening to our prayers or if he cares. These verses remind me that He IS always listening and He always cares. I pray that I can always be mindful of this and pray like I know that He is listening and caring...although I suppose being human this might not always be the case.
