Hebrews 8
Referencing Jeremiah 31:31-34, the author or Hebrews focuses on the "obsolete" and "outdated" nature of the First Covenant and how the New Covenant, based on Jesus' blood, is superior because it it is based on better promises (v6). After the Israelites escaped Egypt, they suffered from a continuous cycle of sin and shame, and this cycle had to be broken...permanently.
We are no better than the Israelites who continued to turn their back on God but we are better off because of Jesus. We have freedom from the sting of sin and death - the greatest gift of all time.
My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who has given me the greatest gift of all time - thank You Jesus! I am not deserving of such a gift. I worry and I have other sin. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. v12
