How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

Hebrews 9

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! v14

In chapter 9, the author of Hebrews continues to compare and contrast the First Covenant and the New Covenant, with the focus this morning on worship, the tabernacle, and sacrifice.  Note how Jesus offered himself as an unblemished, eternal sacrifice - "SO THAT we may serve the living God"!

While he uses another text - 1 Peter 2 - John Piper delivers the same message here. Through Christ, we achieve both freedom from the sting of sin and death and freedom to serve.

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who died for me so that I would no longer be slave to sin - thank You Jesus!  I am not deserving of such a gift...I sin...daily.  Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me.  Help me grow in my faith.  Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo.  Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin.  Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
