As I continue to follow Paul in his journeys I am beginning to understand more deeply God's direction for us on earth. Here in Acts Paul and the other believers are clearly living in a way that is not "in or of this world". In fact, Jesus threatens many who cling to earthly matters as a God.
23 About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way. 24 A silversmith named Demetrius, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought in a lot of business for the craftsmen there. 25
He called them together, along with the workers in related trades, and
said: “You know, my friends, that we receive a good income from this
business. 26 And you see
and hear how this fellow Paul has convinced and led astray large numbers
of people here in Ephesus and in practically the whole province of
Asia. He says that gods made by human hands are no gods at all. 27
There is danger not only that our trade will lose its good name, but
also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited;
and the goddess herself, who is worshiped throughout the province of
Asia and the world, will be robbed of her divine majesty.”
In Romans 12:2, Paul makes this point clear:
2 Do not conform to the
pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good,
pleasing and perfect will.
My Prayer: Lord, Your love, grace, ways, and will are not only great but as Paul says, perfect. I am not perfect - far from it - I desperately need You in my life to transform my heart, my mind, and my life. Forgive me for my flaws and imperfection and thank you for your grace as I don't deserve it. Thank you for Your Word - Truth. I have been blessed by Your Word in ways that are too many to mention. Help me seek you with all of heart.
