The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10
This morning, I continued with my listening/reading of a Christmas/Advent devotional from John Piper. Today's entry focuses on death and loss, and Piper encourages us to see how God tells us that He came so that we "may have life and have it abundantly." We are encouraged to see how this abundance is not only promised for our earthly lives but more so for eternity in Heaven.
But, as it is written,“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him[.]” 1 Corinthians 2:9
As we near Christmas, let us focus on the abundance God promises - particularly eternal abundance.

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who has a prepared a place for me in Heaven - thank You Jesus! I am not deserving of the abundance You give me now and what is awaiting me in Heaven. My sin is great and it continues...daily. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
