Then I said to you, “Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the wilderness. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.”

Deuteronomy 1

Then I said to you, “Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the wilderness. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.” v29-31

The Israelites were promised a special place (v20, 25) by the Lord yet the Israelites repeatedly grew anxious about their circumstances (lack of food and water, strength of the existing inhabitants of the promised land, etc.)Out of this anxiety came sin.  This is how Satan works - he exploits our fears to drive a wedge between us and God.  We should not have fear in our lives - easy to say, hard to do.  But then again we have Jesus, in whom all things are possible, and with Him we have a God that will never leave or forsake us.

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:13-14

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27
My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God, You my Shepherd and my Savior.  Thank You for leading me and providing for me daily.  I am not worth such love.  Please forgive me for my sin that continues - I worry.  Help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You do.  Help me grow in my faith.  Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo.  Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
