Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.

Isaiah 42-44

Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Isaiah 43:19

I continue with my deep dive of Isaiah, based on the Precept Upon Precept study series. Today, I continue with Lesson 16, wrapping up the remaining lesson questions from Day 4, where the focus is Isaiah 43-44:5. My commentary raises the concept of reprobation, which I had never learned prior. The commentary raises this concept in the context of Isaiah 43:19 where God says that He saves believers but does not save others. This of course makes our own salvation even more amazing because as John Piper points out in DesiringGod.com that "[God] doesn’t choose to save certain people because they are better than others (unconditional election), [and] neither does he choose not to save certain people because they are worse than others (unconditional reprobation, or double predestination). Rather, everybody is lost in sin and no one has anything to recommend them to God above anyone else."  Believers rejoice and be thankful for the amazing grace He has poured out for us!

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who saved me - not through my own actions but out of only amazing grace - thank You Jesus!  I am not deserving of how You love me nor of my salvation.  My sin continues...daily.  Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me.  Help me grow in my faith.  Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin.  Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
