Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Proverbs 28

Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. v13

We must all recognize that we are broken and born to sin and that we need a Savior.

[We] all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God[.] Romans 3:23

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8

Mercy is found in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior who came to earth so that we could be set free from the sting of sin and death.  He was nailed to the cross and through His death, our sin was also permanently nailed to the cross.  Freedom indeed!

Who is a God like you,
who pardons sin and forgives the transgression
of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever
but delight to show mercy. Micah 7:18

We must confess our sins to not just Jesus but to our brothers and sisters in Christ with whom we share our lives in fellowship and with non-believers who through our story can see Jesus at work in us. See Acts 2:42-47, James 5:16, Matthew 5:14-16.

My Prayer: Jesus, You are an awesome God who has done miracles in my life and in the lives of those around me.  I have seen Your works with my own eyes!  You are God and my God.  Thank You for adopting me as Your Son! I am not worth such love.  I am broken.  I am lazy and selfish, among my many sin.  Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome such sin and turn towards You.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You do.  Help me grow in my faith.  Give myself and Lisa strength and wisdom.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and the side effects from chemo. Help me lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus so that they choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Help me lead and serve my family, You, the church and others.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
