This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another....We love because he first loved us.

1 John 4

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another....We love because he first loved us. v10-11, 19

Love is the focus of much of this chapter in 1 John.  Similar to my post from last Friday, John wants us to understand both the source of love, the definition of love and its attributes, and again we cannot both hate and love.

I seek to love God as much as I can so that He can further transform my heart and mind, and so I can love others as He loves me.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  John 13:34

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God for You loved me and sent Your Son for me - thank You Jesus - the greatest gift of all time.  I am not deserving of such love.  I worry and I have other sins.  Please forgive me and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You and help me love You and others as You love me.  Help me grow in my faith.  Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo.  Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin.  Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
