God wants us to love others as He loves us.
My commentary* emphasizes how the last of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:17, Deuteronomy 5:21) calls for us to avoid even an "attitude" of malice towards our neighbor.

The words "love neighbor" show up in the Bible at least 11 times.
Jesus refers to love of neighbor as the 2nd most important commandment (Matthew 22:39).
My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who has provided us with great neighbors who have loved us and blessed us - thank You Jesus! I am undeserving of such love and blessings that You provide because I sin...daily, including an oft neglect of the command to love my neighbors. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others (my neighbors) as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
Do not go about spreading slander among your people. Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord. Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
