For the body does not consist of one member but of many....As it is, there are many parts, yet one body....But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 1
Corinthians 12:14, 20, 24b-25
I continue my study of 1 Corinthians, moving on to a unassisted review of 1 Corinthians 12:8-31. Here Paul builds on Vv1-11 and how the Holy Spirit moves in the distribution and allocation of spiritual gifts to all believers as he describes in more detail the various spiritual gifts believers may possess - see v8-10, and v28. Paul also uses the analogy of the body and its various parts and how they work together - see v12-27. Core to use of this analogy:
- One part of the body cannot say to another that is of less importance to the body than another - vv15-17.
- God designed the body - perfectly with no weaknesses or lesser parts - v18
- One part of the body cannot say to another I don't need you - vv21-24
- The body parts work together - in unity, caring for one another, suffering together, and rejoicing together - v25-26

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who is full of grace and compassion for me - thank You Jesus. Thank You for giving me others in the body that support me when I need it. I am not deserving of how You bless me. My sin is great and it continues...daily. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
