Day 254 of my chronological study of the Bible with The Daily Bible® - In Chronological Order (NIV®) (available by purchase through Amazon - author F. LaGard Smith) continues with my study of Job. Job's friends Eliphaz and Bildad have addressed him to seek to comfort their friend Job, and to help him understand his suffering, and today we see his friend Zophar attempt to do the same. As I posted yesterday, once more today, we Job's pride and arrogance blind him from his sin. We all sin and we all need a Savior. These sins are extremely powerful as they blind us from acknowledging a need for a Savior and God. That is why humility is so often discussed in the Bible.
John Piper uses Matthew 5:3-4 to illustrate how we all need a "crutch" and to lean on Jesus - the antithesis of self-reliance. Piper provides a litany of Biblical examples of those who relied on God for strength and grace. Amen!
My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who has both strengthened me and provided grace for my many sins and weaknesses. Thank You Jesus! I am not deserving of such love. My sin continues...namely worry, etc. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us elead Zach and Dustin to YOu Jesus and for them to accept You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and very day.
