Our Redeemer—the Lord of hosts is his name—is the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 47:4
I resumed my deep dive of Isaiah, based on the Precept Upon Precept study series - today moving on to Lesson 18 day 1, which focuses on Isaiah 47. Here, God is describing impending punishment for Babylon, which we know from previous chapters comes about through God's orchestration of an attack from the Medo-Persian armies led by Cyrus of Persia. The study asks how might Israelites at the time have felt about this prophecy. For me, the obvious thought is that the Israelites might gain a measure and hope that God is just - and of course He is. God's justice is perfect! God seeks for all to be saved, but there are those who reject and refuse God. Believers are not spared suffering nor consequences of our sins, but we should recognize that we don't get what we deserve (death) as described in Romans 6:23; instead we get mercy! We get what we don't deserve, but don't get what we do deserve!

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are just and merciful among Your many attributes - worthy of honor, glory and praise - forever and forever! I am not deserving of the mercy You pour out for me. My sin is great and it is daily. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
