In that day man will look to his Maker, and his eyes will look on the Holy One of Israel. He will not look to the altars, the work of his hands, and he will not look on what his own fingers have made, either the Asherim or the altars of incense. Isaiah 17:7-8
I continue with my deep dive of Isaiah, based on the Precept Upon Precept study series. Today, on Lesson 7, Day 4 and 5, the focus is on Isaiah 17-18, where we see an oracle concerning Damascus and the land beyond Cush (Ethiopia). Once again, we see prophecies of God's wrath poured out on Israel's neighbors. We also see God's disappointment with Israel (Isaiah 17:4-6, 10). Within these prophecies, we see God's intent for Israel, that they should not seek alliances (as described in Isaiah 7:3-9, 2 Kings 16:1-6, 9) with neighboring lands for protection and not seek foreign gods and the altars of these foreign Gods, but instead look to the One True God - the Holy One of Israel. With all that is going on in the world today, man is not where we should seek our refuge and assistance.

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who is full of love for me, who never leaves or forsakes me, and is my rock and refuge. Thank You Jesus! I am not deserving of such love and blessings - my sins continue - complaints, worry, etc. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
