Matthew 8
Jesus heals Peter's mother-in-law, drove out the spirits of those who were demon-possessed, and healed all the sick. This was Jesus' purpose - as He said "it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick" (Matthew 9:12) and in that same passage saying "[f]or I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners".
The thing is - of course - is that we all sin (see Romans 3:23 and 1 John 1:8). Matthew's reference to Isaiah 53:4 reinforces this through use of the infirmities as this is defined as having a "physical or mental weakness". We ALL have such weaknesses.
Bottom line: Jesus came to save us all - thank You Jesus!
My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an amazing God who came for everyone and specifically for me - thank You Jesus! I am not worth a gift - the greatest of all time! I daily miss the mark. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
