Luke 22, Matthew 26, Mark 14, John 13-14
Day 316 of my chronological study of the Bible with The Daily Bible® - In Chronological Order (NIV®) (available by purchase through Amazon - author F. LaGard Smith)
continues as I move further into the New Testament - this morning
focusing on the Last Supper. Scripture for this final meal is rich with teaching but a few things stick out, including the institution of Communion. Jesus' washing of the feet more than anything demonstrates His role to serve, instead of to be served, and how we as believers are to love and serve others.
Once again, humility stands out as a key element of faith.
He [Jesus] must become greater; I must become less. John 3:30
My Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are an incredible God, all knowing and all powerful, yet You came to earth, willingly suffered and laid down Your life for me, knowing everything about my sin, so that I could be saved from eternal damnation. Thank You Jesus! I am not deserving of such a gift...not by a long shot. My sin, including worry and other sins, continue. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
