And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

Hebrews 9

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. Hebrews 9:27-28

This morning, until I start a new Bible study, I continue using devotionals from John Piper.  Today, the post focuses on how Jesus' death on the cross means that our own death is not punitive.  Because Christ died for our sins, believers avoid eternal damnation and instead have eternal life in Heaven with Jesus Christ and other believers.  What a glorious salvation indeed!

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an amazing God who willingly went to the cross for me - not because I deserved it - but because You loved me despite my sin and in light of my sin - so that I could have freedom from the punishment of sin, now and for eternity!  Thank You Jesus!  I am not deserving of such a God.  My sin of worry continues as do other sins.  Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me.  Help me grow in my faith.  Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo.  Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin.  Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
