“Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.

Luke 4

“Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown. v24

Although Jesus was from Nazareth, He was not accepted as the Messiah in his hometown.  DesiringGod.com uses this story in Luke (looking at Matthew's version) to point out how pride got in the way of those in Nazareth.  Pride is not looked on well by God and we should be on guard for such sin.  Those prideful in Nazareth failed to come to faith and this is costly indeed.

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, what a great God You are that You have helped me see how great You are and You have humbled me and helped me become less arrogant and more dependent on You.  Thank You Jesus for Your efforts to sanctify and refine me.  I am grateful.  Yet I am undeserving of this and all the ways You love and bless me.  I worry...among my many sin.  Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me.  Help me grow in my faith.  Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo.  Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
