Mark 14
This morning I met with a new group of men in a study and peer group. It is important to be in fellowship with other believers, and in particular for me fellowship with other men. We discussed what it meant to participate in the Lord's Supper (Communion) and a good point was made that we are called to share in the cup of wrath or to share in Christ's suffering (link to John Piper on this topic).
This is not something believers often talk about - yet the Bible is clear that we should.
My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an amazing God who suffered and died for me - I cannot truly fathom what You endured for me...thank You Jesus! I am not worth such an effort - my sin is great and I suspect also will be. Please forgive me for daily missing the mark. Help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” v22-25
