"[N]o one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life."

Mark 10

"[N]o one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life."

As followers of Jesus, we are asked to place Jesus as our number one priority - see Matthew 22:37-38 where it says:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment." Matthew 22:37-38

It also says there is a cost to following Jesus:

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.  Though it cost all you have, get understanding.  Proverbs 4:7

...

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." Mark 8:34

While from time to time I do feel this cost, I do often feel what Paul feels:

What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ. Philippians 3:8

My Prayer: What an amazing God You are Jesus Christ!  And that You are my God - that You suffered greatly as a man than died...specifically for me!  You are as Paul says in so many words...the greatest gift of all time!  I am not worth such rich blessing.  I continue to be selfish and lazy...seeking my own comfort.  Thank You Jesus that You love me anyway but please forgive me Jesus.  Help me be the man You intend for me.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
