And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

Revelation 20

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. Revelation 20:12

I continue my D-Group's study of Revelation using Stephen Witmer's commentary and study guide - moving along with week 9, and my look at Revelation 20:1-15. The reference to "the dead, great and small" implies a comprehensiveness of humanity across all of redemptive history and how God authored the "book of life" before the foundation of the world - see also Daniel 7:10, Romans 2:6-11, and Revelation 3:5, 13:8, 17:8.  We must all be ready, as we don't the day or the hour of our own death or Christ's return, we will all be judged, and God offers salvation for those who accept Him as their Lord and Savior.

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who is saving a place in Heaven for me - thank You Jesus!  I am not deserving of such amazing grace!  My sin is great and it continues...daily.  Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me.  Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo.  Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin.  Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
