Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
I resume my study of 1 Corinthians, moving on to an assisted review of 1 Corinthians 16:5-24. Here Paul, as he closes this letter to the church in Corinth, seeks to reassure the church there by sharing how he is coming as quickly as he can as are other leaders, including Timothy (v10). The presence of well-regarded church leaders is a steadying influence on less mature believers - the church at Corinth certainly had its challenges but it was nonetheless a growing church with faithful believers. In v13-14, Paul seeks for the church, in the face of sinful influences around them, to "stand firm in the faith" and to "[l]et all that [they did] be done in love." Paul also wants the church to care for one another - fellow believers (v15). Paul concludes the letter be sharing how other leaders in the church send their greetings and love to as they were most assuredly praying for the church in Corinth.

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God whose mercies are new every morning and never cease, and You provide for all of my needs, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Thank You Jesus! I am not deserving of such love and blessings. My sin is great and it continues...daily. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
