He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.

Psalm 147

He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. Psalm 147:15

As I continue to ponder what to study next, my Bible study this morning once again leans on DesiringGod.com's Solid Joys daily devotion, which today looks at God's majesty in creation, specifically how God created extremes in the weather and how these extremes can kill.  John Piper describes creation in this manner to warn us not to toy with God - not to provoke Him through disobedience nor test Him.  As the Sovereign Lord of All, God can strike You down in an instant, and He has the power to grant You grace and salvation...or not.  All of our lives are in the palm of His hands.  We all sin and need a Savior.  We should run into His arms of grace.  John Piper shares God's mindset: "Whether hot or cold, high or deep, sharp or blunt, loud or quiet, bright or dark . . . don’t toy with me. I am God. I made all these things. They speak of me, just like the warm summer breezes do, and the gentle rains, and the soft moonlit nights, and the lapping of the lakeside, and lilies of the field and the birds of the air."  We are encouraged to seek God for His protection.

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are an awesome God who loves me and who is full of grace and compassion for me.  Thank You for protecting and saving me.  Of course I am not deserving certainly no more deserving than anyone else.  My sin is great and it continues...daily.  Please forgive me Jesus and help me turn from and overcome my sin and turn towards You.  Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me.  Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength.  Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo.  Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior.  Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin.  Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others.  Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
