This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder[.] 2 Peter 3:1
As I continue to ponder what to study next, my Bible study this morning once again leans on DesiringGod.com's Solid Joys daily devotion, which today serves as a Lent devotion with Easter approaching. John Piper highlights 2 Peter 3 and aims to "stir up our thankfulness and joy and admiration and amazement at what the resurrection of Jesus means for us. The curse of our fallen nature is that what once thrilled us becomes ordinary. The reality hasn’t changed. We have changed." To stir us up, Piper gives us additional scriptures to remind us of what God has done:
- Because of the resurrection of Jesus, we are born again to a living hope. (see 1 Peter 1:3)
- Because of Jesus’s resurrection, he now has the glory for which we were made. Our ultimate destiny is to see him as he is. (see 1 Peter 1:21, John 17:5, 24)
Be excited about Your faith and for how Christ died but rose again so that we could be saved, have life to the full now, and for eternity in Heaven!

My Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are awesome indeed and worthy of all glory, worship and honor for who You are, what You have done, and that You freely give salvation to those, including me, who accept You as their Lord and Savior. Thank You Jesus. I am not deserving of what You have done for me. My sin is great and it continues...daily. Please forgive me Jesus and help me overcome and turn from my sin towards You. Help me love You with all of my heart, soul, and mind and love others as You love me. Help me grow in my faith. Give Lisa and myself wisdom and strength. Please heal Lisa of her cancer and from the side effects of chemo. Help us lead Zach and Dustin to You Jesus and for them to choose You as their Lord and Savior. Please provide Godly friends and spouses to Zach and Dustin. Help me serve You, my family, my church, and others. Help me understand, be obedient to, and apply Your message for me today and every day.
